Governance

The work and priorities of LINk are decided by its members. However, the LINk Board, appointed from this membership, needs to be in place to make decisions, ‘sign off’ work and give direction to the host staff, among other tasks.

Role of the Board

  1. Review all of the issues that are raised with the LINk or the host
  2. Agree the priorities, workplan and budget for the LINk and approve the host budget
  3. Develop, discuss, and agree proposals for projects. Approve and sign off, prior to publication, completed work on projects. Decide which work is to be commissioned. Commission and agree performance management reports on the LINk and the host
  4. Decide on use of LINk inspection powers
  5. Review and manage the relationships with other networks active in North Tyneside, and other LINks, aiming to create a co-operative rather than competitive relationship
  6. Promotion of the LINk by agreeing marketing and communication plans and represent the LINK at a range of meetings
  7. Contribute to the performance management of the host by the local authority
  8. Ensure that equality and human rights principles are integral to the work of the LINk and ensure that the LINk works within the Nolan principles
  9. Carry out regular reviews of LINk policies and procedures
  10. Appoint LINK representatives to external groups and set clear expectations that will guide the practice of these representatives
  11. Ensure that the LINk has effective relationships with the main stakeholders that include the local authority and relevant NHS trusts and authorities
  12. Assist the LINK host with the appointment of the LINk Manager
