Access to GP surgeries
Background
Accessing GP appointments was raised as an issue at a number of LINk events and through our outreach work. In particular parents of young children and young people themselves. This project aimed to investigate whether local services can be accessed fairly and easily by local people, focusing on booking systems and making out-of-hours appointments.
Current LINk activity
LINk surveyed over 200 local people about their experiences of making appointments with their GP. Feedback was generally positive with many people making comments about how easy it is to access their GP and how helpful they have found staff. We asked four GP practices to respond to negative comments about accessing their services. Their responses and comments from North Tyneside PCT are included in our report.
