Information
Background
LINk members have identified information provision as a concern across health care and adult social services. This is in terms of quality, availability and accessibility of information in all formats - printed, online and that given verbally.
LINk Activity
Carers' information: Over recent months, LINk has met with three groups of local carers to find out what their experiences of accessing information was like. We also asked what could be improved. LINk also approached several information providers from statutory services and the voluntary sector to find out what information they provide for carers. All of the information gathered has now been put in to a report, which can be downloaded here.
This report has been sent to information providers, including North Tyneside Council and the NHS, and a request to know what, if any, of the suggestions made in the report will be taken on board.
New information service at North Tyneside General Hospital
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust is implementing a new Information Service, part of which will be an Information Centre run out of North Tyneside General Hospital. The Trust is currently consulting with the public on this. On 28 May 2009, a number of LINk members attended a Patient Information Implementation Group meeting to offer their input. A second meeting was held on Tuesday 15 September - information from which will be coming soon.
Join Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's reading panel
The Trust has also invited LINk members to join their Reader's Panel. The role of the panel is to provide comments on the information produced in terms of whether it is easy to read; easy to understand; the content and layout and tone and design of information. As a panel members you will be sent leaflets on either a monthly, bi-monthly or quartlerly basis and asked to read and comment using an evaluation form. For more information and to receive an application form please email amy.rudd@voda.org.uk or telephone 0191 643 2623.
